|Tioram Castle||Northern Scotland|
|Cul Doirlinn, Acharacle, Highland||Privately Owned|
Tioram Castle is built on a small rocky island in Loch Moidart in a very picturesque location. It is a roughly five-sided enclosure of high walls with rounded-off corners built in the early 13th century. Buildings, including a tower house, were constructed inside, but these are now ruins. For most of its existence the castle belonged to the Lord of the Isles and is the ancestral home of the Macdonalds of Clanranald. There was a major fire in 1715 that left the castle uninhabitable.
Tioram is now owned by Anta Estates who are hoping to restore the castle. In the meantime access to the interior of the castle is prevented for safety reasons.
